Great Local Mission Work!
Hurricane Recovery Team Forming
Asbury UMC in Livermore is forming a return Katrina recovery team.
This trip will be April 17th through 24th, 2010.  We will be stationed out of Slidell, Louisiana (near New Orleans).
We will be staying at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
The church provides a kitchen, sleeping accommodations and bath facilities.

The work will involve repairing damaged homes.
There is work for anyone.  All levels of skill are welcome.
We may also assist with construction of some new homes.

We will travel to New Orleans on Saturday, April 17th. We will worship at Aldersgate on Sunday.
We will work Monday through Friday and return on Saturday, April 24th.

Each volunteer pays their own way.
The estimated cost is $500 to $600 per person.
This depends greatly on the cost of our airfare and how many people we have sharing the group costs.

We will complete our registrations by March 17th, 2010.

LOCAL MISSIONS PROJECT - REHABS IN BAY POINT

Several East Bay Methodist Churches are working with Habitat for Humanity to "recycle" existing homes as affordable housing.  Over the next year, we will rehab several homes.  We recently completed the first one, a home in Livermore.  Our next project is in Bay Point.  It is a bank foreclosed home purchased by Habitat.

Our first scheduled workdays are Saturday, March 6th and 13th, 2010.  We work from 8:30am to 4:00pm.  We will meet at 32 Bayview in Bay Point.  Bring work gloves and lunch.  We provide all the tools and supplies.  For more details or to register, contact Steve Elliott at 925-362-8697 or SAE612@msn.com or follow the registration instructions below.  All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
