UMVIM
Mission
1. Invite people to put their faith into practice. Walk the walk.
2. Develop and prioritize mission opportunities.
3. Recruit, equip and train team leaders and team members for local, national and international UMVIM trips
4. Effectively communicate opportunities, plans and activities to the congregation
5. Raise money as necessary to support the activities particularly seek support for critical skills for mission teams such as medical
workers or construction contractors.
6. Coordinate activities with the other mission subcommittees
Recent Activities
1. Coordinated with 4 local Methodist churches to organize two mission trips to Guatemala in Summer 2007
2. Gave presentations to local churches about our mission experiences and offered advice on setting up a mission trip.
3. Completed four adult mission trips to Biloxi in 2007.
4. Organized a visit in August to the Bay area of Robert Sharp, Mississippi Disaster Relief Director.
5. Organized a leadership training session for Conference wide participation on March 24, 2007
6. Organized a fund raising concert in July 2007 which raised $3000 for the 4 Methodist churches involved
7. Organizing a business directory for church members as a fund raising project
8. Designed a new Web site.
9. Completed a mission trip to Guatemala for limb restoration (Brad Farrow, Louise Farrow, Wolf Meier)
10. Planning a presentation for a potential mission trip to Kenya on December 16.
Plans
1. Set up staggered 3 year rotation of six member members to enable continuity and new membership-- Lyn, Ron
2. Develop a sustainable communication program to raise awareness of mission needs and to recruit team members-- Committee
