Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes has become the largest server of meals to the hungry in Contra Costa County.  Volunteers gather every 3rd Monday for preparation of lunch at the central catering kitchen in Pittsburg and the serving of lunch at a Bay Point location. They meet at the church at 8:30am, carpool together, and return by 1:30pm.





The Souper Center



Time:  3rd Thursday of the month

The Souper Center provides a daily noontime meal to low income/homeless persons.  On the 3rd Thursday of every month, volunteers from our church travel to the Souper Center to prepare sandwiches and serve lunch.  Volunteers meet at the church at 9:30am, carpool to the center together, and return around 1:30pm.  Participate one time or on an ongoing basis.




Blankets for Project LINUS




The United Methodist Women (UMW) provide blankets to seriously ill or traumatized children in the area.  Participants work with a chapter coordinator for East Bay/Contra Costa/Alameda Counties.  All styles of new, handmade (quilted, tied, knitted, crocheted, fleece, etc) and washable blankets are accepted.

Support Homeless Families through Shelter Inc.




There are many people in Contra Costa County who are in need of food and shelter each night.  Shelter Inc. provides food, shelter, and case management services to adults with the custodial care of minor children, who find themselves without the resources to access housing for their families.

SRVUMC volunteers to supply meals and miscellaneous supplies for the Martinez shelter during one week each spring.  Volunteers are required to prepare and serve meals.
