We will be going to Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
October 30th - November 6th, 2010.
Record flooding hit eastern Iowa in June, 2008. In Cedar Rapids alone, over 5,500 homes where left uninhabitable.
This mission trip will be to assist with the ongoing rebuilding effort.
They have really struggled to make a comeback, even now, two years later.
We will travel from California to Cedar Rapids on Saturday, October 30th and return on Saturday, November 6th.
Our work will include the typical mix of home rebuilding tasks. There will be work for all levels of abilities.
We will be staying at a United Methodist Church where we will have sleeping accomodations, a kitchen and showers.
The total estimated cost of this trip is $500 to $600.
This trip is in lieu of a return to Slidell, Louisiana or Galveston, Texas.
We envision returning to one of those locations in the Spring of 2011.
