Mission
1. Contact and meet with organizations which are under consideration for assistance
2. Promote UMCOR advances
3. Assess needs of organizations
4. Recommend to Ad Board communion and special offering recipients
5. Publicize benevolent giving opportunities
6. Share with the congregation who will benefit and how from the benevolent giving
7. Invite speakers and plan forum for representatives of charitable organizations or UMC representatives
8. Promote connectional giving thru special communion Sundays, apportionment giving and annual conference promotions
9. Become a global partner in mission
10. Evaluate covenant relationships and update as appropriate
11. Periodically Inform the Ad Board of results of the giving program and the plans
12. Recommend mission budget expenditures to support local organizations such as Young Life Capernaum, local hands
on opportunities such as Salinas stove donation or computers to Tonga mission.
13. Coordinate activities with the other mission sub committees

1. Year 2008 program is tabulated through May for communion giving and special offerings(see below)
2. Tabulated 3 year history of donations (see below)
4. Developed an operational guide to list Covenants and other obligations set by the National Methodist Church.
Plans
1. Set up 3 year rotation of members to enable continuity and new membership: Lyn, Ron
2. Set up help for Winnie in preparing publicity and Carole for sending checks and thank you letters.
3. Set up a process to handle mail requests for donation: Lyn,Winnie, Carole
4. Develop personal contacts by committee members with charities--- Winnie
5. Send written confirmations and thanks of gifts over $100 --- Carol
6. Develop a philosophy of giving to produce a balanced portfolio of charities with the necessary rotation of donations as appropriate
